Statement of Purpose
Making the decision to move into a care home environment, or have people to help care for you at home is a difficult decision to make. We understand this and respect the fact that you need to know all about the services we provide before you make any decisions.We hope that this Statement of Purpose will answer some of the questions you may have about us.

Services Provided
We are a Residential Care Home and Care Services registered by the Care Quality Commission.
Our care home provides accommodation for a total of 32 people over the age of 18 and those with dementia. We welcome both male and female clients and individuals from all cultures.

Our Staff
Crosshill House Care is owned by Jane and Emma Gray. Emma Gray is registered as the Responsible Individual.
The Registered Manager is Joanna Kearney, who has many years experience in working within care settings.
Joanna is supported by two Deputy Managers and a small team of Senior Care Assistants each with individual responsibilities. Those in turn are supported by our Care Assistants.
In addition we have dedicated Domiciliary Care Staff, two Cooks, two Domestic Staff and a Handyperson.
All our staff receive an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check before employment and we insist that all our staff continuously develop and update their skills and have a comprehensive training programme.
A Key Worker system is also in operation to provide continuity and an initial point of contact for clients, their family and friends.

Clients as Individuals
Each Crosshill House Care client is treated as an individual. A tailored plan of care is developed and reviewed with client input to ensure staff always act in the clients best interests.
We have the necessary moving and handling equipment in house along with a bath hoist and pressure relieving equipment. Staff are also trained to use moving and handling equipment within the community.
We can when occupancy allows offer short term (respite) accommodation on an emergency or planned admission.

Personal Accommodation and Costs of Care
Our Care Home accommodation is offered in 32 bedrooms, 21 of our rooms have en-suite facilities and our other bedrooms are within a few feet of bathroom facilities. All our bedrooms are tastefully decorated and residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms with pictures, linen and small pieces of personal furniture.Our bedrooms are provided on two floors accessed by stairs, passenger lift and stair lift.
All bedroom and bathroom facilities are fitted with a modern call bell system should residents need to alert staff. Most bedrooms have telephone points and telephones can be installed upon request. To protect privacy and dignity all our bedrooms are fitted with door locks.
Costs for in-house care ranges from £824 to £866.00 per week (2024), depending on personal accommodation.

Communal Areas and Garden
In addition to residents own rooms we offer a modern and comfortable lounge situated at the front of the building.
We also have a conservatory area with additional lounge space and dining facilities offering additional recreational space and choice within the Home. A further comfortable combined lounge and dining facility is located at the rear of the building. Giving residents a wide choice of communal space.
We have a number of bathrooms and wetrooms within the home including specialist bathing equipment.
Our garden at Crosshill House is an area we maintain and develop with our residents input. During the warmer months residents work closely with our gardener to choose plants and flowers and if able are involved in the planning and maintaining of our garden and planters.

Activities and Religious Services
We have a Activities Co-ordinator who has the responsibility for arranging the Homes activities and entertainment.
Our activities programme is based upon the interests and abilities of our residents.
Some of our activities are planned in advance for example a trip to the garden centre whilst others take place on a more spontaneous basis.
We have two trained members of staff who deliver hand, arm, and leg message twice per week.
We also encourage residents to maintain activities outside the Home and will support residents to access these.
As part of being within a small community we welcome our local church to deliver a six weekly service within the Home. Attendance at this service is purely optional.

We fully welcome family members and friends to visit residents at any reasonable time. We know how important maintaining contact with those very important people in our lives who make us who we are.
Management and staff welcome comments and suggestions from clients and their families at any time.
If you ever have cause for complaint we will do all we can to resolve this to the satisfactory of both parties as quickly as possible.
As part of the whole packages of care offered to residents we have close links with out local GP practices, District Nursing Service, Pharmacy and Chiropody.
We also have a visiting Optical, Hearing and Dental Service.

We are located in the village of Barrow Upon Humber which is 4 miles from the Humber Bridge (Scunthorpe side). Within the village we benefit from a number of local amenities including a mini-market, newsagent, which delivers papers, post office and coffee shop. There are also club and society opportunities within the village.
